Red Christmas Star with Dove and other holiday cards for 2014

Red Christmas Star with Dove
© 2014

available for sale in my Artfire on-line store HERE

I made a bunch of holiday card designs this year. This is one I made that is for sale on-line as well as selected brick and mortar stores.

The next is one I made is available at some brick and mortar shops this year as small 3 x 5 cards, but I ran out of them for my on-line store. I may have them available (fingers crossed) for on-line purchase sometime in December, so check back in my Artfire Christmas Card Category HERE if you are crazy about them and want a pack.

Angel Lisa and her Thoughts

available for sale in some selected brick and mortar shops
contact me at sales(att)LiseWinne.com if interested

The original, a mini drawing, is for sale on-line, however, but is slightly different in coloring (more blues) with a different title:

Lisa, the Healing Angel
© 2014
size: 3,5" x 4.25" mini drawing

available for sale in my Artfire on-line store HERE

This was all part of a series. Lisa, the Healing Angel was the largest.

Some of the rest of the series follow. These are all super-minis with the tiniest being Angel Denise at 1.75" x 2.5" and the largest being Angel Sally at 2.5" x 4.25":

Eliza, the Heart Angel is available for sale as an original already matted at Valley Artisans Market (a gallery/gift shop in upstate, NY)

This next piece can either be a Christmas or NewYear's design (people are now buying them for both occasions in the holiday art shops I am in). I have them in all sizes of greeting cards, from minis to 5 x 7s. In my on-line store, for the moment, I've listed 5 x 7s in a pack. However, if you want more or less than that, contact me through my Artfire on-line store.

more Jim Manngard digital art

digital image of me by © Jim Manngard
from a photo by © Jim Lestrange

This is actually a digital artwork by Jim Manngard and not a real newspaper article. Jim is part of the Blackmores Night team (a band specializing in in new interpretations of Renaissance tunes, their website is here) and does lot of photos and posters for the band. To see one of his images for the band go here.

You will see that he he did one of these for me too (which I actually used as a christmas card to 11 of my relatives):

Jim has been making digital images of me for a couple of years now. To see many more, go here.

I'm going through a hard time now and this certainly warmed my heart! Many thanks to the two Jims!

treble clef and bass clef Christmas ornaments

3 Star of David ornaments with dove of peace
hand painted and one of a kind
note: each one is reversible (that is why there is a side-by-side view)
© 2012
available through the holiday season in my Etsy shop
also available year-round in my Artfire shop (if they haven't sold)

As with the Hanukkah ornaments I talked about last time (link to that blog post HERE), I actually made them in 2011, but I am listing them for the first time on-line this year.

These are popular with my musician friends! You can tell they are slightly different from one another. I have set aside a few for our tree too. I really like how they look on a tree (and perhaps I will show you soon).

holiday art shows (2012)

Holiday show season is upon me and this is one show that I'm in this year (note that the opening night is this Friday, November 16, from 5 - 7 pm (includes refreshments and live music).

One other holiday show that I'm in has a first-time-ever Black Friday sale: 20 percent off for November 23 - 24 at Valley Artisans Market, 25 East Main Street, Cambridge, NY. The gallery is only making a 5 percent commission on these sales, so it may never happen again. If you want to enjoy a sale at this venue that is not a "seconds sale", this would be the year to try it.

I will also be running a sale or two in my on-line shops around that time... stay tuned

Spirit of Winter

Most of 2012 is the year of the Chinese water dragon, a year marked by sudden and unexpected events and changes. For me, that's an understatement! They haven't been pleasant events and have impacted me and every close family member in my life. It has been overwhelming, a juggling act that it is teetering on failurse at every moment, without a shread of normalcy in anything: work, home, relationships with family and friends, events. Phone calls with my mother often begin with "The water dragon strikes again!"

That's how the Chinese year/astrology is effecting me. Now for those of you into western astrology, I have a Uranus exact square Pluto on my native sun (also exact) most of this year. What does that mean? Well, it means sudden and unexpected events and changes. More of the same, apparently. So, does that mean I get a double whammy since both eastern and western seem to match in this case? It would seem so.

Anyway, since I am unable to get much work accomplished, I thought I'd have a sale of some designs from the past. Enjoy!

Two Doves Trinket Box

Two Doves Trinket Box
© 2011
hand painted
available HERE
may also be available HERE

If you haven't been reading along, this box is part of a series I made in the winter of 2011 (I call it my "paint everything in sight" period after acquiring a studio with running water and a big work table). The rest of the series is HERE. I am just starting to list them for sale now, in 2012.

Of all of the painted boxes (so far), this is probably my least favorite (I like the butterfly boxes the most). I did take great pains to paint stars on the inside of the box for this one.

Last night when I was busy painting an ACEO (a mini original painting that has to be 2.5" x 3.5"), I realized that the top of this box was not much bigger (2.5" x 4.5"). Hmmmm, so that's why I was always using my liner brushes!

Back to painting!

angel box

Angel Box
one of a kind, hand painted
(for jewelry, ornaments or trinkets)
available through my Etsy on-line store here
or through my Artfire on-line store here

Here 2 other views of the box:

If you haven't been following along, this box was painted in the winter of 2011 during my "paint everything in sight" phase. The other trinket boxes painted during this time are HERE.

I have done many angel figures in this kind of style for many years on my hand thrown pottery, tote bags, tee shirts and hand embroidered items and I thought I would try one in paint on a box. I do like the way it comes out on pottery and embroidered items best (hard to paint so small as the top of the box was only 3"!). If I ever do another one, I'll do it on a bigger surface.

Here are some pots I made (for comparison):

dove trinket boxes

dove box
(trinket or jewelry box, one of a kind)
© 2011 (but listing for the first time)
hand painted
available in my Artfire shop through THIS LINK or through my Etsy shop through THIS LINK

dove box version 2
(trinket or jewelry box, one of a kind)
© 2011 (but listing for the first time)
hand painted
available in my Etsy shop through THIS LINK

As you can see, I decided to list boxes that were similar all on one blog page. Makes it much easier! The dove in the first listing is bigger (and probably more spirited too).

These were done during my "paint everything in sight phase" during the winter of 2011. I'm listing them for the first time on-line (it has taken me so long because I prefer to make things than list them -- a character flaw of mine which I am trying to remedy!).

If you want to see more of my trinket boxes, go HERE.

Peace, Christmas style trinket box

painted peace box in light yellow
© 2011 (but first time revealed on-line)
hand painted trinket or jewelry box, one of a kind
4.75" long x 2.75" in width and 1.5" in depth (i.e. 12.065 cm long, 6.985 cm in width and 3.81 cm deep)

There is only one, but I am listing it in two shops simultaneously and hope that no one buys them at the same day, hour and minute. It can be purchased through my Artfire on-line shop through THIS LINK  or through my Etsy on-line shop through THIS LINK.

This one is not part of a series, at least not now (and doubt it will ever be as I want to devote my time to more ambitious projects). It was part of my "paint everything in sight phase" during the winter of 2011. I painted it just after painting 4 for Christmas presents for family members (Christmas 2010, that is -- we are going back!). Each present/box had my family member's name on it. Afterwards  I thought I'd try one for the general public.  For all intents and purposes, I guess it is a Christmas box.

As for my other art that I am known for -- I realized that taking pictures of all of these boxes and trying to list one a day is very, very, very time consuming. Wow! I miss doing my art and am getting ever so slightly depressed from not doing it. It seems like just at the point I get done with pictures and listing, I have to pack up cards for one of the shops I'm in or I have to go grocery shopping or something gets in the way. I'm not used to this! Argh!

But I also realize the necessity of clearing out my studio too as the boxes have nowhere to live at the moment. They are all sitting on top of my sewing box and every time I need to get into it, I have to take stacks and stacks of boxes off of it. Well, not just the boxes, but other painted objects on top of the boxes as well (you'll see eventually what I'm talking about). And I need to sew, so they are becoming a nuisance. Hopefully a beautiful and worthy nuisance to someone else!

The Tree (a christmas tree where I got a little wild with the border!)

The Tree
© 2011
(probably looks a little less blurry if you click on the image)

As a greeting card it looks like this:

Is the tree a little overwhelmed by the border design (which I admit was a lot more fun than painting the tree!)? Or is this a nice change from the usual holiday cards? Would love to hear your comments.

The cards are available in my Artfire shop (and perhaps in my Etsy shop around the holidays). Also available this season in a number of holiday art shows in my area.

Angel Patrice of Peace

Note: the copyright watermarks do not appear in the actual art (needed for on-line display only).
I am stuffed from Thanksgiving dinner & decided I should try to list my newest piece before my music obligations completely take over my time. This is my newest design and was finished on November 19. It is a watercolor painting & measures 15” x 17 “. She is available right away in my etsy shop here as a greeting card. I will also make her available in the brick and mortar stores as time permits.

I try to make at least one angel a year around this time. The name for the angel was inspired by Patrice Jarvis-Weber of Lower Adirondack Regional Art Center.

This will be my last artwork for the year as we are in rehearsals for 4 upcoming performances. One of them includes a concert before the media (where I have been asked to sing a piece that I have never sung before).

On another note, fellow Etsy artist, Kathy of Pepper2, did a nice write-up about my art here. I am returning the favor by listing some of my favorites from her shop here:

You might have to click the picture to see the details in her work.

Practicing and learning new music, new art show and new gig

This is a new picture of Jim and me last summer. The two of us are spending the evenings practicing and learning new material. We are performing New Year’s Eve with the band. I think we are also playing a Christmas venue, though not entirely sure.

I painted/worked a new piece the entire day and rushed downtown late before everything closed and found out I will be at the holiday art show at Lower Adirondack Regional Art Center. Yippee! This year I will have greeting cards and giclee prints (and maybe an original or two). Oh, yes, and CDs.
