"Streak", new art featuring a horse leaping

Keeping up with the direction of my newest body of work is this piece, called "Streak". Actually the horse's name is Streak. He is leaping through the night sky.

I would categorize this piece as storybook art.

Symbolic meanings in the piece:

* horse: balance of wisdom and power
* white horse: transformation, beginning and ending, freedom without restraint, purity, sometimes a sign of wealth and prosperity
* white heart: purity in love
* stars: inspiration, intuition, dreams
* vines: the eternal, infinity

I have it in a local gallery at the moment, framed in white with a vanilla colored mat. Most of 2012 is the year of the Chinese water dragon, a year marked by sudden and unexpected events and changes. For me, that's an understatement! They haven't been pleasant events and have impacted me and every close family member in my life. It has been overwhelming, a juggling act that it is teetering on failurse at every moment, without a shread of normalcy in anything: work, home, relationships with family and friends, events. Phone calls with my mother often begin with "The water dragon strikes again!"

That's how the Chinese year/astrology is effecting me. Now for those of you into western astrology, I have a Uranus exact square Pluto on my native sun (also exact) most of this year. What does that mean? Well, it means sudden and unexpected events and changes. More of the same, apparently. So, does that mean I get a double whammy since both eastern and western seem to match in this case? It would seem so.

Anyway, since I am unable to get much work accomplished, I thought I'd have a sale of some designs from the past. Enjoy!

Our CD, Saratoga Romance is now up on CD Baby

Our new CD (cover design above) is finally up for sale on CD Baby. It will probably be up on Amazon, Borders, and download sites like I-Tunes shortly.

I did the artwork for the CD (while band member Jim Lestrange did the graphics). I also made this into 2 greeting card designs without the writing (one has a color shift). It has done well and I am encouraged to make more designs with Celtic knots and horses.

I am hoping to sell the CD on Etsy as well. While I have done well at CD Baby (and they do have the soundclips!), I am less pleased that they were taken over by Discmakers: more corporate & seemingly more disorganized (though to be fair, they have just started to overhaul the site and things may get better... I hope).
