wedding cake with celtic inspired knots and doves

"Wedding Cake with Doves"
© 2011

It looks a little blurry on the page. You might have to click on the picture to see an unblurry rendition.

This is up as a greeting card in my Etsy store and my Artfire shop (for a change!). I've been favoring Artfire lately for most listings, but this goes with what I am doing at Etsy as well.

The original piece is a whopping 13" x 17" (that's the image area).

Here's a close-up:

"Wedding Cake with Doves" detail

This was one of those unfinished pieces hanging around since last June. Follow this link to a blog post from last June if you want proof (and you'll see plenty of other pieces waiting in the wings there too -- uh oh).

I can't say why I drop projects so readily only to finish them up at a much later date. I get inspired by new ideas and then can't seem to wait to finish pieces I am working on. So many other projects like this waiting in the wings! Ugh.

It's All in the Partner!

"Love Birds Dancing" greeting card
with "It's all in the partner!" written underneath
© 2011

This is part of the exotic bird series I have been working on. Exotic birds were the first thing I thought of when I was looking around for subject matter last week for an anniversary (or wedding) card. I just can't get enough of exotic birds. I enjoy them most of all. This is certainly a very different approach from my tight, detailed Celtic style art or hand-thrown pottery (which I enjoy making too, but it isn't as though I can leap into this kind of art-making without lots of planning and preliminaries).

The original art piece is india ink and colored pencil. It is approximately 13.25" x 18" on 14" x 19" bristol. I am selling the greeting card right away through my Artfire on-line shop through this link and it will be out in that format in some brick and mortar stores in my area soon. I may add prints of this design at some point too.

If you absolutely love the original, you can e-mail me at sales(at t)LiseWinne.com.

I haven't decided on what to do with any of the originals. Pile them up and then have a gallery exhibit somewhere eventually?

on the drawing table

Sometimes I work on many pieces at once and then post them all when they are done. Here is a peek at some sections of artworks I am slaving away on.

Wedding and Anniversary Custom Art Archival Print with Two Trees and Two Doves

Note: the copyright watermarks do not appear in the actual art. You may have to zoom in to see what it really looks like.
This is a piece I have been slowly working on during my phase of painting very detailed pieces. The detailed pieces are still not completed, but I managed to complete this one.

It is a series of custom prints that I am working on just for Etsy. I had been browsing the site one night and saw a number of tree and dove art pieces for weddings and anniversaries and most were stark graphic depictions in 2 - 3 colors. I thought I'd try a more painterly approach and see what happened. The sky is actually painted seperately from everything else because I wanted to try a number of sky colors. I'll be posting those versions soon in the same place.

The piece is indeed up in my Etsy shop here. I notice that it is getting more views than usual, so maybe Etsy is a wedding store? A place where people buy gifts? Who knows. It's my first on-line store experience aside from CD stores and my website store and I'm still trying to figure out who the community is.

I have been sick with the flu for awhile… huge necessary detour… and this art piece seemed like a good one to take a chance on as my fever was diminishing (with a few symptoms lingering). I just didn't feel comfortable delving into pieces that are taking a long time to design and complete and where a wrong move could derail months of work.

It's not a masterpiece (as so many gifty things aren't), but something that may have appeal in that community.
