This is part of a series of bunnies taking naps. 

For this one, I had in mind a child's room. The parents are trying to get their little one off to sleep and point to the bunny on the wall: "See how that bunny is sleeping and smiling because he is having a happy dream?" Hint, hint ...

These parents don't really like the usual decor of bright neon colors that a lot of children's rooms have. They want something more subtle, more in the tradition of the Renaissance, or older English illustrations for children's books. So they pick this piece for their child's room.

I tend to think people are attracted to artwork sometimes through the symbolism (subconsciously), and this piece has a lot of positives in that department:

* white bunny: new perceptions and manifestations; signifies something at work for the highest good
* white butterflies: protection, fortune, messages from the spirit world
* vines: continuity, traditions in ones life
* red tulip-like flowers with thorns: true love, eternal love, undying love, yet with a few protective measures
* small yellow flowers: happiness in the small things, friendship
* purple daisies: dignity, pride, success
* bountiful fauna: material well being

"Streak", new art featuring a horse leaping

Keeping up with the direction of my newest body of work is this piece, called "Streak". Actually the horse's name is Streak. He is leaping through the night sky.

I would categorize this piece as storybook art.

Symbolic meanings in the piece:

* horse: balance of wisdom and power
* white horse: transformation, beginning and ending, freedom without restraint, purity, sometimes a sign of wealth and prosperity
* white heart: purity in love
* stars: inspiration, intuition, dreams
* vines: the eternal, infinity

I have it in a local gallery at the moment, framed in white with a vanilla colored mat. This is Your Brain on C-PTSD

This cartoon drawing of mine is part of a Whitney Museum of Art book that was part of and coincided with a performance/exhibition headed by Jill Kroesen called "Collecting Injustices, Unnecessary Suffering", and part of a larger exhibition at the museum called "Human Interest".

By the way, this is a typical feeling when going through PTSD and C-PTSD: the need to nurse injuries, and dealing with flashbacks. 

PTSD and C-PTSD never go away entirely, but the symptoms diminish over time, especially if traumatic experiences diminish.

As you can imagine, I am honored to have been part of this.

I am also thankful that the Whitney Museum of Art is one of the first museums to recognize child abuse and domestic abuse (and the outcome of PTSD) as worthy of covering in its exhibits, performances and lectures.  

This is not the usual kind of art that I am known for on this particular blog. But it is my other half, the half of me that has something to say besides pretty pictures like fairies, unicorns and flower bouquets. It is art that is taking up more and more of my time, though for the sake of consistency, I won't talk about it much on this particular blog. I like to keep my two styles separate, but this bit of news was too sweet not to announce here. If other events pop up that are newsworthy, I'll post here too about it.
