Here is the best I could do with appearance (the real frame is less towards the beige spectrum and more towards true silver):

Here are the symbolic meanings in the piece:

* horse: balance of wisdom and power
* white horse: transformation, beginning and ending, freedom without restraint, purity, sometimes a sign of wealth and prosperity
* stars: inspiration, intuition, dreams
* vines: the eternal, infinity
* white trees: connection to our true identity, revolutionary wisdom, enlightenment

Until next time ...

Magazine Model App, a distraction from making art

APP PHOTO OF MOI: makeup and airbrushed to make me look like a magazine model
If you want to try out their APP, CLICK HERE to do it

So, I had some fun with an app one night that makes one look like a magazine model. It's floating around, and a lot of people I know have tried it.

There are a lot of these kinds of apps these days: what you'd look like if you were a man, for instance. Never tried it. In fact, I never try any of them because downloading an app usually means a lot of unwanted junk gets loaded onto your computer and then you find that you often want to remove it (if you know how to).

In the original photo I'm not wearing any make-up at all, not a speck of it, so what I look like with  makeup is accurate. The airbrushing is what takes away the details of your face: the subtle dimples on the side of my face, the few extra lines under my eyes, the higher plumper cheek bones that I have, and everyone I know who has tried the app says it whitens the eyes around the pupil. Yup. But I understand that this is what is done to fashion models and to Hollywood stars posing for magazines. Glam is all of the rage.

Would I be happy with the results if it was for an actual magazine shoot? Probably, as a photo, but I actually hate to wear make up. I don't like the way it feels, and mostly I feel phony and not myself when I have it on. Close-up, too, eyelashes clump together in a kind of shiny gooey way.

For performing on stage, I do wear a brown eyeliner and a lipstick that matches my own lip color which is naturally a rosy color (the lipstick smooths out the color).

Here is another photo (taken from the photo in my banner atop this page) -- again, in the original photo I am not wearing any make up at all, and yes, my side dimples aren't apparent in the mag one either:

I have just finished a painting this morning and will be loading it very soon.

Unicorn with Red Roses and Butterflies

Unicorn with Red Roses and Butterflies
© 2018
available for sale HERE

I meant for this piece to be an addition to my fantasy art pieces (fantasy art and storybook art is what I am known for). It is meant to be tapestry-like, to mimic those from the Renaissance period.

This piece is in my shop on a variety of products including all manner of prints (canvas, paper, metal, framed and unframed), plus totes, pillows, mugs, tee shirts and other products. I thought I would give you a sense of what some of these products look like.

Here is what you can find in terms of framing (all of these framing options are available in my shop):

This one is under black frames in the drop-down: #SM2
Choose a mat too: this one is manor white

If you want to get fancy here is another idea:

Here is what the piece can look like on a wall (note: this one has a white mat instead of the red):

Here is what it looks like as a large coffee mug:

Here is what this piece looks like on a tote:

Here is a big beach towel (60" in diameter) in this design for those of you who want to take the Renaissance on your visits to the ocean:

I tried playing around with various filters for a day to get a different version of this piece and I found that I could offer it in yellow too. The yellow version also comes with all of the various products:

That is it for now ...

I have been busy writing a book that features Renaissance faires, makes reference to Lord of the Rings, life as a musician, and even takes on the tough subject of bullying, abuse and sexual harassment in the midst of pursuing a life that is as peaceful as these unicorns, a life full of art and music.

I'll let you know when it comes out.

Until next time ... and thank you for reading ...

"Streak", new art featuring a horse leaping

title: Streak
© 2018
acrylic painting on paper
8" x 10"
(note: the copyright watermark does not appear on any products)

Keeping up with the direction of my newest body of work is this piece, called "Streak". Actually the horse's name is Streak. He is leaping through the night sky.

I would categorize this piece as storybook art.

Symbolic meanings in the piece:

* horse: balance of wisdom and power
* white horse: transformation, beginning and ending, freedom without restraint, purity, sometimes a sign of wealth and prosperity
* white heart: purity in love
* stars: inspiration, intuition, dreams
* vines: the eternal, infinity

I have archival prints and products available for sale in this design HERE. The original, at the time of this writing, is also available for sale. I have it in a local gallery at the moment, framed in white with a vanilla colored mat. However, if it is still available, please feel free to inquire at the e-mail, sales((att))LiseWinne.com (you can purchase it with or without the frame).

I love how the tote bag came out in this design:

Some pictures from the show, "Inspired by Spirit", with Marina Petro, and photographed by Viola Peggy Gray of 22 Shades of Gray

with some of my work at the show

If you have been reading along, you know that Marina Petro and I have a show at Valley Artisans Market in Cambridge, NY. These are some of the pictures that a fellow artist, Viola Peggy Gray, took of us with our work.

The show is up until October 24, 2017 (the gallery is open from 10 - 5 every day except Monday).

This is a nice opportunity to see my pieces together as I tend to scatter them one piece at a time around to local galleries afterward. It is also a nice opportunity to see Marina's work together before she puts them for sale on-line. There is nothing like seeing originals up close!

Art Show, "Inspired by Spirit" with Marina Petro, at Valley Artisans Market

Above: oil painting by Marina Petro
Below: acrylic painting by Lise Winne

Where: Valley Artisans Market on 25 East Main Street, Cambridge, NY (518-677-2765)
When: September 29 - October 24, 2017
Opening: Sunday October 1, 2017 from 1:00 pm - 3:30 pm

Why with Marina Petro? I have know Marina since I was 20 years old. Marina and I share a passion for the spiritual in our work. Marina is a clairvoyant, an ultra empath and what I would term as highly evolved, a type of person the world needs more of. She is also a very talented artist, as many people who are moved towards the spirit, and of awareness, tend to be. She has several different styles including her angel and spiritual work, her bold and bright in the zone series and her very popular still life series. To see more of her styles, go HERE.
In many ways our interests run parallel as well, in that I also enjoy making still lifes called the bouquet series (which also includes food, although mine is in photography) and bold abstract work as well (with my signature doves: note -- I am still uploading pieces, but it gives you an idea).
I like to think that we are kindred spirits in art.

To see all of the works she is creating (at break-neck speed!), visit her blog HERE.

To see the kind of work I will be showing, and why (it is a new direction for me, one I started in 2016), GO HERE. I also discuss why I make the kinds of pieces that I make, how it is connected to the spiritual, how it ties into being a messenger of peace and a voice for survivors and the vulnerable, and what the symbols mean in my work (bunnies, doves, white trees and Tarot figures).
